Minnesota: So, the Timberwolves had a rough night against the Knicks. Karl-Anthony Towns came back and showed everyone just how much they miss him. He dropped 32 points and snagged 20 rebounds, looking like he was in his element with Jalen Brunson.
Without Towns, the Timberwolves’ offense was all over the place. Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle just aren’t clicking. After the game, Edwards didn’t hold back on his frustration. He’s a top player, but the way the offense is set up right now isn’t working.
Edwards is great at creating his own shot, but Randle likes to do the same thing near the basket. It’s a mess. They’ve been running a lot of isolation plays, but they’re not scoring well at all. It’s one of the worst rates in the league.
Even with the struggles, the Timberwolves have a solid defense that keeps them in games. But if they want to make a real playoff push, they need to shake things up. Maybe starting Naz Reid alongside Rudy Gobert could help. Reid can shoot and plays hard on defense, which could open things up.
Whatever they decide, the Timberwolves need to figure it out soon if they want to be a threat in the playoffs.
