Frome: During a debate, MP Anna Sabine shared serious worries about young drivers. She mentioned the dangers of local A-roads, which are often windy and fast.
She recalled a tragic accident in 2023 where two young sisters lost their lives. This incident raised her concerns about her son’s future driving safety.
Sabine pointed out that the area has a history of accidents. She criticized the lack of funding for safety measures, like traffic lights at risky junctions.
She cited a report from road safety charity Brake. It shows that one in five new drivers crash within a year of getting their license.
To improve safety, she suggested considering graduated driving licenses. These could limit passengers or speed for new drivers.
She believes it’s important to discuss these ideas. Young people have the most to lose if we don’t address these issues.
