London: So, it looks like Timo Werner is sticking around at Tottenham for now. Ange Postecoglou made it clear that they’re not letting him go this January.
Werner is on loan from RB Leipzig and has six months left on that deal. He hasn’t been in great form lately, which has raised some eyebrows.
There’s been chatter in Germany about Eintracht Frankfurt being interested in him, especially since their striker is getting attention from big clubs like Manchester City.
But with injuries piling up, Postecoglou isn’t keen on losing any players right now. He mentioned that after losing Rodrigo Bentancur, they had 11 first-team players out. That’s a tough spot to be in.
When asked if Werner would still be with the team by the end of January, Postecoglou simply said, “Yeah.” He’s not looking to lose anyone at this point.
Postecoglou had subbed Werner off at halftime during a recent match, calling his performance “unacceptable.” But he’s also acknowledged that Werner has some skills that can really make a difference.
He noted that Werner has a great turn of pace, which can be super useful, especially in the later stages of games. His attitude in training has been solid, too.
Overall, it seems like Postecoglou believes Werner can still contribute, and he’s hoping to see more from him as the season goes on.
