Jindalee, Perth, Briana Faye Thorne, Merlin Smith, Manslaughter
Jindalee: A woman is in a tough spot after her boyfriend’s tragic death. Briana Faye Thorne, 33, is facing manslaughter charges. She’s asking for bail so she can take care of her five-year-old daughter.
Merlin Smith, her boyfriend, was found unresponsive by the roadside in Perth last month. It’s reported that he was hit by a car. The police say a silver Mitsubishi Outlander was seen near the scene just before the incident.
After the accident, Briana was taken into custody. She appeared in court via video link, where her lawyer mentioned her clean record and her need to support her daughter. The little girl is currently being cared for by Briana’s mother.
The magistrate has ordered a home detention assessment and has set a date for the bail hearing on February 5. It’s a tough situation for everyone involved, and we’ll have to see how it unfolds.
