Met Office Yellow Rain Warning Issued Ahead of Wintry Showers and Snow

A yellow rain warning is in effect across Scotland, including Glasgow, due to heavy downpours and upcoming wintry weather.

Weather

Scotland, Glasgow, Dumfries and Galloway, Rain, Snow

Glasgow: This Tuesday morning, many people in the west of Scotland are facing a wet commute. The Met Office has issued a yellow rain warning for the area.

Initially, the warning was just for Dumfries and Galloway. But it was expanded to include Glasgow and other regions on Monday evening.

The Met Office reports that heavy rain will continue into Tuesday morning. They expect 30 mm of rain across most areas, with up to 60 mm in the hills. The rain should clear from the west by Tuesday afternoon.

After the rain, expect wintry showers and snow in higher areas of Scotland. There’s also a chance of ice on untreated surfaces.

Frank Saunders, the Chief Meteorologist, warns that while the week looks pleasant, temperatures may drop this weekend. High-pressure systems will bring colder easterly winds, increasing the risk of snow and ice.
