London: Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon has been singing Alexander Isak’s praises, calling him the best striker in Europe right now. Isak really showed his stuff against Arsenal, helping Newcastle secure a 2-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final.

That goal marked Isak’s 15th of the season, and he’s been on fire lately, scoring 14 times in his last 15 matches. Gordon, who also scored in the game, believes Isak’s current form is unmatched.

Gordon shared his thoughts on BBC Radio 5 Live, saying, “He is the best in Europe, probably right now, with the form he’s in.” He also highlighted Isak’s humility and unselfishness on the pitch, which makes him even more impressive.

With this win, Newcastle heads into the second leg against Arsenal next month feeling confident about reaching the Carabao Cup final at Wembley. Manager Eddie Howe echoed Gordon’s sentiments about Isak, although he mentioned that Isak had to come off early due to a hamstring issue.

Howe praised Isak’s performance, saying, “First half he was electric.” He noted that Isak was feeling his hamstring at halftime, which was a setback for the team. Despite that, Howe was pleased with how the players handled the tough match, especially with some heroic defending in the final minutes.
