Winnipeg: This week, the Prairies are in for quite a ride with a whopping 20-degree temperature difference. It’s like a showdown between Pacific and Arctic air, and it’s happening on Wednesday.

So, what’s the deal? Well, some Arctic air is pushing down south and east, bringing some seriously cold temps. We’re talking highs in the minus 20s and lows dipping into the minus 30s. Brr!

If you’re in the northern, central, or eastern Prairies, brace yourself for those double-digit negative highs. And there’s a snow system rolling in from Edmonton to Brandon, so keep an eye on the roads.

Now, if you’re in southern Alberta, you’re in for a treat. It’s going to be warmer than usual, with some windy conditions. The Pacific air is making its way down, bringing gusts of 70-80 km/h along the foothills, but also some milder temps. Daytime highs could even hit the single digits!

Looking ahead, it seems like the milder weather might stick around for a bit as the Pacific systems keep pushing back against that Arctic chill. Alberta is likely to trend warmer, while the eastern Prairies will still be feeling that cold air.

But don’t get too comfy just yet! A colder pattern is expected to return, especially for the eastern areas, as we head into January. So, stay tuned for the latest updates on what’s happening in the Prairies!
