New York: So, guess what? Last year, venture capitalists poured a whopping $97 billion into AI startups in the US. That’s a record! Big names like Elon Musk’s xAI and OpenAI were part of this massive funding spree.

According to PitchBook, AI deals are taking a bigger slice of the startup funding pie. Almost half of the total $209 billion raised by US startups went to AI companies. That’s the highest share ever!

Overall, startup funding went up by about a third compared to 2023. But here’s the twist: while AI is thriving, many other startups, especially in sectors like enterprise software, are struggling to get cash.

Interestingly, the total amount from initial public offerings and acquisitions hit $149.2 billion, which is almost $30 billion more than the previous year. It’s a mixed bag out there!

Outside the US, things aren’t looking as rosy. Europe saw a drop in startup funding to $61.6 billion, and Asia also faced a decline. It’s clear that while AI is booming, the rest of the startup world is feeling the pinch.
