After ugly loss to Wizards despite his 56, Nikola Jokic says Nuggets need ‘a reaction’

Denver: So, the Nuggets just had a rough night against the Wizards, who had lost 16 games in a row. Can you believe it? Nikola Jokic dropped 56 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, but they still lost. The Nuggets were behind for most of the game, which is just wild.

Now, Denver’s been struggling lately, losing four out of their last six games. They’re sitting at 11-10 right now. If the playoffs started today, the defending champs would have to win two games just to get into the playoffs. And all this is happening while Jokic is playing like an MVP. After the game, he was asked what the team needs to do to turn things around.

He joked about being benched, saying it could be good motivation. But honestly, benching a player means you’ve got someone better to step in, and the Nuggets are already dealing with depth issues. They’ve got only seven guys who can really play at an NBA level.

Coach Michael Malone is trying different things to see what works, but the roster has its limitations. The team can’t make big trades or sign players who were making more than a certain amount. So, they really need to figure things out from within. There are moments when players like Jamal Murray or Michael Porter Jr. show flashes of their championship form, but it’s just not consistent enough. This is the reality for the Nuggets right now.

Even Jokic is looking for answers, which says a lot.
