Ottawa: So, here’s the scoop. Harjit Sajjan, the Liberal Minister, was all set to hit up the Taylor Swift concert in Vancouver with his daughter. But guess what? He didn’t go after all.

Initially, it was reported that he’d be attending the concert on the taxpayer’s dime, courtesy of a provincial Crown corporation. But then, things took a turn.

Last week, his spokesperson mentioned that he had cleared it with the ethics commissioner and even planned to donate $1,500 to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. That was part of a fundraising effort linked to the concert.

But after some reflection and conversations about the whole situation, Sajjan decided to decline the tickets. His office confirmed that he wouldn’t be attending the concert after all.

Swift wrapped up her global Eras Tour in Vancouver, and it seems Sajjan’s decision has stirred up quite a bit of chatter.
