MONTREAL: So, after a chilly and snowy Christmas, it looks like southern Quebec is in for a bit of a warm-up just in time for the new year. Pretty wild, right?
Environment Canada is saying that a weather system from the southern U.S. is rolling in. This means we might see some freezing rain or drizzle starting Saturday evening, especially in the St. Lawrence Valley.
As the temperatures climb, Montreal is expected to get a mix of rain and melting snow from Sunday through Monday. Just a heads up for anyone driving—be careful out there! The roads could get icy and slippery.
After dealing with some seriously cold temps, like -17°C during Christmas, we’re looking at a nice change. By Monday, we could hit around 8°C, and for New Year’s Eve, it’s expected to be about 4°C.
Oh, and don’t forget, there’s a smog warning in effect for Montreal Island today. High pollution levels are making the air quality pretty poor, so keep that in mind if you’re heading out.
