A64 at Welburn near Castle Howard Closed Following Serious Crash
A serious crash has led to the closure of the A64 at Welburn, causing traffic disruptions. Drivers are advised to steer clear of the area.

Ryedale: The A64 is shut down in both directions near Castle Howard. There’s been a crash between the Welburn turn-off and Barnygate Lane.
Traffic seems to be managing okay, but it’s best to avoid the area if you can. The closure has now stretched all the way to Old Malton.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service got the call at 3:39 AM. They sent crews from Malton to handle a single vehicle accident where a car hit a tree.
The fire crews helped the ambulance team and made sure the vehicle was safe. They also provided lighting for the police to do their work.
A spokesperson from North Yorkshire Police mentioned that due to the serious nature of the crash, a section of the A64 Malton Bypass near Welburn village is closed in both directions.
This is where the dual carriageway changes to a single lane. They’re setting up diversions and asking drivers to avoid this route for now. The road will likely be closed for a while.
