Castle Eden: So, there was a pretty wild scene on the A19 this morning. A couple of car crashes happened, and one guy got seriously hurt. It all kicked off just before 5 AM when an Audi smashed into a lamppost. While the police were dealing with that, another car—a Toyota—came barreling in and hit a police car that was parked there. Talk about bad luck!
The driver of the Audi is now at North Tees Hospital getting treated for serious injuries. Thankfully, no one else was hurt in the chaos. But both drivers involved have been arrested for driving offenses, which is a bit of a twist.
The police are really hoping someone saw what went down or has some dashcam footage. They want to piece together exactly what happened. The A19 southbound is still closed but should be back open later today.
A spokesperson from Durham Police said they’re looking for anyone who might have seen the Audi before the crash. If you’ve got any info, they want you to call 101 and mention incident reference number 44 from January 12.
