Mystery of Glamorgan Man: Who Was the Stocky Man Found Dead in the Woods 45 Years Ago
A new appeal seeks to uncover the identity of a man found dead in Glamorgan woods 45 years ago, leaving authorities puzzled for decades.
Glamorgan, Wales, South Africa, Unidentified, Cold Case
Resolven: Can you believe it? A man was found dead in the woods 45 years ago, and no one knows who he is. It’s a real head-scratcher!
On December 9, 1979, they discovered his skeletal remains in Rheola Forest. He likely passed away between nine months to a year and a half before that. Crazy, right?
Some folks think he might have been visiting from South Africa. They found a Salvation Testament with the name D MALAN and a partial address in Randburg. It’s like a puzzle waiting to be solved!
For the last four years, a charity called Locate International has been digging into this case. They’re hoping someone out there remembers him, especially from his time in South Wales back in 1978.
They described him as a stocky guy, between 40 and 60 years old, who walked with a heavy limp. He was about 5ft 8ins to 5ft 10ins tall and might have worn dentures since he didn’t have any teeth.
He was dressed in casual grey trousers and a blue shirt, and he had some interesting items on him that hint at a South African connection. There was even a bookmark from a Christian mission in King William’s Town from 1960!
They’re also looking into whether he was a mining consultant or if he had ties to the anti-apartheid movement. It’s all very intriguing!
Mark Greenhalgh, the CEO of Locate International, believes someone must remember this man. He stood out with his limp and possibly spoke with a South African accent. If you have any info, even the tiniest detail, it could help crack this case wide open!
If you think you might know something, don’t hesitate to reach out to Locate International. They’re eager to hear from anyone who might have a clue!
