Amsterdam: You won’t believe this, but affordable train travel is making a comeback! Europe is about to launch a new budget-friendly train route that connects two of its most popular cities. And guess what? It’ll cost you less than ten bucks!

This new service, dubbed the “EasyJet of railways,” will link Amsterdam and Berlin for just €10, which is around £8. It’s run by a Dutch company called GoVolta, and they’re planning to kick things off by September. How cool is that?

GoVolta was started by two entrepreneurs, Hessel Winkleman and Maarten Bastian. Their goal? To shake up cross-border train travel and make it more affordable for everyone. They promise that at least 110 tickets on each train will be under €10. When you compare that to other operators charging between £31 and £213, it’s a steal! Sure, the journey will take about eight hours instead of six, but hey, it’s all about the savings, right?

While there’s no exact schedule yet, the trains are expected to leave in the early morning and arrive in the afternoon, giving you plenty of time to explore. Tickets will be available later this month, and by 2027, GoVolta plans to add more routes to cities like Copenhagen, Basel, Paris, Bruges, Hamburg, and Frankfurt. Sounds pretty exciting, doesn’t it?

So, keep an eye on GoVolta’s website for updates. They’re aiming to launch this new service in September 2025, and tickets will be on sale soon!
