Chapel Hill: So, it looks like Bill Belichick is still waiting to sign his contract with North Carolina. Can you believe it? He was introduced as the new coach back in December, but here we are, a month later, and nothing’s official yet.

According to CBS Sports, he’s been busy putting together his coaching staff and hitting the road for recruiting. But the school confirmed that there’s no signed deal in place. This could get a bit tricky if he decides to leave for the NFL, as it raises questions about any potential buyout.

Interestingly, he’s not the only coach in this boat. Michigan’s Sherrone Moore also coached a couple of games before signing his contract. It seems like a trend lately!

Now, Belichick has a hefty $10 million buyout at UNC, but that drops to just $1 million this summer. If he doesn’t have a signed contract, it might make it easier for an NFL team to think he could leave without much hassle.

But here’s the thing: there’s no sign that he’s looking to jump back to the NFL right now. He hasn’t had any interviews this hiring cycle, and the longer it goes, the less likely it seems he’ll get approached.

In his first press conference, he made it clear he didn’t come to North Carolina to leave anytime soon. And with him building his staff, it looks like he’s sticking to that for now.

Recently, UNC added some experienced coaches to the team, including Mike Priefer and Will Friend. Plus, they brought in Armond Hawkins as the defensive backs coach, who has ties to Belichick’s son. It’s all coming together!
