Adelaide: Cost of living is a hot topic in 2024, with many feeling the pinch. Everything from rent to groceries is getting pricier, and folks are looking for ways to save.
One creative solution comes from Lyndsay, a graphic designer from South Australia. She ditched the traditional lifestyle and moved into a campervan full-time. It’s a big change, but she’s loving it.
“I’ve been freelancing for years, and after dealing with housemate drama and rising rent, this feels like my own little slice of freedom,” she shared.
But living in a van has its challenges, especially when it comes to finding places to park without drawing attention. That’s where her $7 Bunnings find comes in handy.
Lyndsay revealed that a simple tradie vest helps her blend in while stealth camping on quiet streets and in parking lots. “Stealth camping is all about keeping it low-key,” she explained.
She uses the vest to make her campervan look like a work vehicle. “To anyone passing by, it just looks like a work van, not someone sleeping inside,” she said.
After getting the idea from a friend, she grabbed a vest from Bunnings, scrunched it up a bit, and now it’s her go-to for stealth camping. “It works like a charm,” she added.
Lyndsay has been stealth camping every night since she got her van a month ago, and she’s loving the freedom it brings. “It’s been my dream for years,” she said.
She’s working hard, juggling three jobs to save up for more adventures. “Even when I’m in my hometown, it feels like I’m traveling, and that little thrill makes everything exciting,” she said.
