San Francisco: So, De’Vondre Campbell is done for the season with the 49ers. He refused to go into a game last week, and now the team has decided to suspend him.

They’re suspending him for three games, which means he won’t play again this year. The 49ers want to keep him from joining another team, so they chose suspension over cutting him.

Things got tense when Campbell didn’t want to play against the Rams. He was a starter for most of the season, but when Dre Greenlaw came back, Campbell just didn’t want to step in. Coach Kyle Shanahan asked him why, and Campbell simply said he didn’t want to play.

After that, he left the sideline and headed to the locker room. Reports say that GM John Lynch had to confront him and told him to leave. Other players were not happy with Campbell for not stepping up.

Shanahan made it clear that refusing to play like that isn’t acceptable if you want to be part of the team. This suspension will hit Campbell hard financially, costing him over $260,000 in salary and bonuses.

At 31 years old and with nine years in the NFL, Campbell was on a one-year deal worth $5 million. This whole situation has been a messy chapter for the 49ers, especially during a tough season.
