New York: This upcoming NFL Draft is shaping up to be super interesting, especially with the quarterback situation being so uncertain. Right now, the top two guys are Shedeur Sanders from Colorado and Cam Ward from Miami. But honestly, there’s a whole mix of other names like Quinn Ewers from Tennessee and Jalen Milroe from Alabama.
Here’s the kicker: none of these guys are considered elite. They’re not as weak as the 2022 class, but sources say even Sanders and Ward might not stack up against last year’s top quarterbacks. It’s a bit of a gamble for teams looking for a franchise QB.
And guess what? There are quite a few teams in the top 10 that need a quarterback. So, will they reach for someone just because they’re desperate? It’s likely, given how things usually go.
With the Senior Bowl coming up, plus the NFL Combine and pro days, we thought it’d be a good time to share our first mock draft for the top 10 picks.
For the first pick, the Tennessee Titans are likely to grab QB Cam Ward from Miami. It’s a toss-up between him and Sanders, but Ward might be the better fit. He’s got solid stats with 39 touchdowns and only 7 interceptions.
Next up, the Giants, who might trade with the Browns to snag QB Shedeur Sanders. The pressure is on GM Joe Schoen and coach Brian Daboll to find a franchise quarterback. If the Browns decide to keep their pick, they could take Sanders themselves.
Then, the Browns could go for EDGE Abdul Carter from Penn State. He’s been a beast on the field, racking up 22 tackles for loss and 12 sacks last season. Pairing him with Myles Garrett would be a nightmare for opposing offenses.
The Patriots are in need of some offensive weapons, so they might pick WR Tetairoa McMillan from Arizona. He had a fantastic season with 84 catches for over 1,300 yards.
As for the Jaguars, they could grab CB/WR Travis Hunter from Colorado. Their secondary struggled last season, and Hunter could help out on both sides of the ball.
The Raiders might reach for a quarterback, but for now, they’re looking at RB Ashtyn Jeanty from Boise State, who had an impressive season with over 2,600 rushing yards.
The Jets have a lot of options, but they might go with DT Mason Graham from Michigan. He’s considered one of the best defensive players in the draft and would add some serious talent to their front line.
The Panthers are looking to support QB Bryce Young, so they could pick WR Luther Burden from Missouri, who has shown he can be a game-changer.
The Saints might need a quarterback too, but they could strengthen their defense by selecting EDGE Nic Scourton from Texas A&M, who had 15 sacks in his last two college seasons.
Finally, the Bears, who have their franchise QB in Caleb Williams, need to bolster their offensive line. They might go for OT Kelvin Banks from Texas, who could start right away.
