Beed: So, Jitendra Awhad, a leader from the Nationalist Congress Party, just dropped a bombshell. He claims that 201 out of 386 polling booths in Dhananjay Munde’s Parli constituency were “captured” during the recent Maharashtra Assembly Elections.
He made these allegations during a press conference, standing alongside Rajesaheb Deshmukh, who ran against Munde and lost. Awhad pointed out that the law-and-order situation in the area has been shaky, especially after the murder of a local sarpanch stirred up a lot of political drama.
He mentioned that after the last Lok Sabha Elections, it was noted that 122 booths were considered very sensitive. The Bombay High Court had even ordered extra security for these spots. But according to Awhad, nothing was done, and those booths ended up being attacked.
Deshmukh added that there were bizarre incidents where voters had their fingers inked without actually casting their votes. He described how people would show their Aadhaar cards, get their fingers inked, and then be sent away without voting. It sounds pretty shady, right?
Deshmukh also accused the local police of colluding with troublemakers, claiming that a false assault case was filed against his son. He said there’s no rule of law in Beed, and things have been like this since Munde took charge as the guardian minister.
Awhad is calling for an investigation into the actions of the district collector and the police superintendent during the alleged booth capturing. Meanwhile, Munde secured a whopping 1,94,889 votes, while Deshmukh trailed with 54,665 votes.
To top it off, the opposition is now demanding Munde’s resignation after one of his close aides was arrested in connection with a murder case. It’s definitely a tense situation in Maharashtra right now.
