Indian River County: A 16-year-old was shot and taken to the hospital on December 21. It was a pretty serious situation, and the local authorities were on it right away.

They didn’t release the teen’s name, but he was shot once and rushed to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce. Thankfully, he was stable by Saturday night.

Fire rescue got the call around 2:15 p.m. that day. Assistant Fire Chief Bill Herrington said they responded quickly to the scene on 12th Court Southwest.

According to Sgt. Kevin Jaworski from the sheriff’s office, detectives are actively looking into what happened. They have a few people of interest in custody, but it’s still early to know the full story.

There were multiple reports of gunshots in the area, and when deputies arrived, they found the teen with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. It sounds like a chaotic scene.

Deputies were called just before 2:12 p.m. about a shooting that had just happened. The report mentioned that several people were at the scene and took off when the deputies showed up.

Some of them were detained, while others turned themselves in later. Apparently, there was a fight going on nearby when someone pulled out a gun and fired.
